Product Manager
About the Position
Apress seeks a Product Manager to deploy the best combination of guerilla and traditional marketing to successfully sell our Database titles. As a Product Manager, you will drive sell-through of your books and help build brand awareness. You will be responsible for the marketing plans of your product lines. You will complete all activities related to fulfilling the marketing plan, including selecting and executing trade/consumer shows, analyzing the market and competition, writing sales and marketing copy, developing creative promotions, building profitable relationships with leading product-related manufacturers and offering marketing support for your products. Building publicity and consumer awareness of Apress titles through traditional and non-traditional reviewers will be key to succeeding. Establishing strong relationships within the Windows and Oracle communities will offer access and opportunities for you products. You know how to market books, and you want to have the freedom to creatively get results.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree and 3 years of Book Publishing Marketing experience, preferably for technical books.
- Demonstrated success in driving sell-through and/or building brand awareness
- Demonstrated ability in copy writing, publicity, sales support, quantitative market research, and strategic market thinking
- Proven ability to complete tasks on deadline, including writing effective marketing communications
- Ability to work well in a small group environment
- Finally, while a technical background is not required — you should be comfortable around complicated subjects and highly educated people
- Ability to travel 3+ times per year
Preferred Qualifications
- Appreciation of new technologies
- Computer book publishing experience
- Familiarity with a variety of computer sectors
- Some degree of admiration for Microsoft products
- Sense of humor

Associate Marketing Product Manager
About the Position
Apress seeks an Associate Marketing Product Manager to deploy the best combination of guerilla and traditional marketing to successfully sell our database titles. This person will work with the Windows Marketing Product Manager to drive sell-through of database books and help build Apress brand awareness. You will help create specific marketing plans for the database product lines. You will then execute these marketing plan, including attending trade/consumer shows, analyzing the computer book market and competition, writing sales and marketing copy, developing creative promotions. You will build profitable relationships with leading product-related manufacturers and offer marketing support for the database products and other titles as needed. Building publicity and consumer awareness of Apress titles through traditional and non-traditional reviewers will be key to succeeding.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree and 1 year of Marketing or publicity experience
